So I recently made a big chop due to my annoying extremely fine straight long limp hair. My eagerness of growing it out and curling the ends with a curling iron was pretty much done deal when I thought of how much time I would require to style it that way everyday. Let's face it, I'm lazy when it comes to hair. I hardly even want to brush it on some days. So I went for it, off to the hairdresser with a picture of Michelle Monoghan on my phone. Like all other times I go for a chop of more than 5 inches I almost 100% regret it. I didn't regret this at all, and I felt like I had this baggage lifted off of me. Why the heck did I wait so long?!

And voila! OK, I sort of hid behind the dog, but I hope you get the idea :)
And now onto my hair products...
Baby Power - I forgot to include a picture of this but this is probably my most used hair product. I use it every morning after I brush my hair by rubbing it around my scalp so that it soaks up any grease throughout the day. You have to work this in well because you don't want people to be able to see the white powder on your hair. The end result should be fluffy hair :p There is a similar product by Bumble and Bumble that comes in various hair colours but is ridiculously priced. So unless you have $35+ to spare, just stick with baby powder. I have black hair and it works fine. Now onto the rest of the hair products...
1. Herbal Essences Set Me Up Gel - I'm not an expert in the hair gel area, but this works great for my random flyaways (I have lots of these) and is great for twisting up front bangs on those my-bangs-are-so-gross-and-ugly days. Plus Herbal Essences products always smells so good, and such a great price.
2. Aveda Volumizing Tonic - This smells uniquely good. It's not the greatest at volumizing dry hair but works well at volumizing layered hair when you go through the damp hair + blow dry process.
3. CHI Silk Infusion - My favourite heat protectant because it's effective. I've tried other drugstore brands like Tresemme and Dove but they just do not compare with CHI. But please CHI if you are reading this, please make another version that smells better!! My hair smells like Pho after using this - enough said.
4. Big Sexy Hair Volumizing Hairspray - This hairspray is awesomesauce. Flip your hair upside down and spray. I got scared the first time I used it with my short short hair. I looked like I got electrocuted. But all I had to do was brush it lightly and it left with me with great volume. It doesn't last all day, but it's still awesome in my books.
So there are my most used hair products. As you can see, most of my products aren't HG material because they all have their pros and cons but they are sufficient for my lazy hair styling purposes.

hahahahah I never thought of Chi smelling like pho. I thought of it as a more cologne-y smell... it definitely is a fantastic product though. cute haircut!
Hey Jenny! You look great :) I need a new hair cut too haha. 5 inches? You're brave!! I never cut more than 3 inches at one time.
I love silk infusion! leaves my hair so soft. your hair looks super cute, I love how its styled! I would totally miss 5 inches of my hair ;)
xoxo
wow it's been a while since you've last posted!
my hair is thin and flat as well. i'm waiting for my short layers to grow out.
i've always contemplated on trying the bigsexy hairspray. i'm looking for something like the aveda product. perhaps the volume root spray by sephora. i can't even remmeber what it's called right now haha!
I love your hair! You look gorgeous! ;D I rarely use hair produts because I feel that they weight my hair down! Have you ever tried argan oil for the hair? :)
Hey Jenny! I kno what u mean, I recently cut off a similar amount of my hair becuz it was so unhealthy (split ends galore!) and I wanted something easy to maintain for my 4 week China trip last month. I like my hair now, but I still get super jealous seeing other girls with gorgeous long hair! I can't wait to grow it back out again, even though I know it will be more maintenance. Your hair looks so stylish and healthy! I also have fine, limp hair that gets oily easily. What I do is I don't condition everyday (I just use a spray in conditioner afterwards to compensate) and I back-comb my roots a little to create volume. I used to use the Tresemme heat spray (haven't used heat on my hair in over a month though). It's funny that you think the Chi makes u smell like pho! I love pho, but don't want to smell like it, lol.
{*LOL} @ your hair smelling like Pho after using CHI Silk Infusion. {*hahahaha} I actually haven't used their protected before, just shampoo and conditioner which isn't too bad. Though I have found a new replacement, Tsubaki by Shiseido.
I think your haircut looks fab. I'm always torn between long and short hair. Like you, I hate how long hair can end up limp and can require a lot of styling. But on the other hand I know I would have to style short hair like no other. I'd probably have bed head every morning with short hair.
I must try your baby powder trick. I hate having oily hair. Thanks for the tip Jenny.
<3 S.
you look so fresh and pretty Jenny! your dog is cute too! ;)
im sure your head feels so much lighter now! enjoy your new 'do! <3
aww you look beautiful in the picture!
thanks for the reviews!
Girl why you hiding behind your dog? You look gorgeous! Well it's great that you're satisfied after a big chop. I think I chopped off like 12-13inches and ended up with a BAD haircut ugh. Never again. Well, never again with a hairstylist that I've never had before HAHAHA.. yeah.
Anyway your dog is so cute. His(her? Sorry I can't remember XD) coat is so shiny and smooth danngg.
I've heard great things about the bigsexyhair hairspray. I might consider purchasing it if I somehow miraculously decide not to get lazy with styling my hair. I suffer from boring limp hair because I'm too darn lazy to do ANYTHING with it haha. Silk infusion is the bomb, but totally agree with the smell- but mine smells like men's cologne not pho LOL that's hella funny.
Oh and you make me feel so ashamed and embarrassed hahaha ><. I feel like a total fraud when people compliment me on my photography because I haven't started learning about any of it yet hahaha *nervous laugh* I know there is no scientific basis behind this but maybe because my late father was into photography? I never got the chance to learn from him though, I was WAY too young. My older sister and I have an eye for photography I guess? My younger sister doesn't though LOL. Yeah that's the best I could come up with haha!
Aww, cute haircut! And I know what you mean about being lazy about hair. I'm the worst! I take showers at night and then fall asleep with my hair wet. TA DA.
Heheheh.
You're so cute! Love the hair : ) I actually like the smell of Chi silk infusion :P
Awww what a cute picture with your doggie! Baby powder just doesn't seem to work really well for me, I prefer Batiste (: I love CHI Silk Infusion, it really leaves my hair super silky! I wish we had Big Sexy Hair products, I'm really into volumizing products. I bought a super cheap volumizi9ng hairspray from L'Oréal for around $2 and it works great!
i never did try CHI...but too funny about the smell. sometimes that's the reason i hesitate to eat pho...because i don't want to smell like it for the rest of the work day!

this is totally random! haha, but i JUST got the t1i and i'm super excited. really wanted the t3i for the flippy screen, but could not rationalize paying the extra money for it.
yea ok this is really random how i commented to you about it LOL. :}!
jenny you're so pretty and your hair looks so nice! my hair ... always so unruly. it seems immune to products too or maybe i'm just using them all wrong xD
